Description

Learn how to set up a rappel extension and manage the risks presented by rappelling. After a short discussion with instructors, attendees will build and use a rappel extension in a ground school context. Then, attendees are invited to climb and descend by rappelling.

  • Learn how to set up a rappel extension

  • Learn the risks associated with rappelling and how to manage them

Required Gear - you will provide this gear, or rent it from Ruckus

  • Climbing harness and shoes

  • Tube-style belay device and locking carabiner

Optional Gear - we will provide this gear, you are welcome to use your own

  • 120cm/48”/4’ sewn sling for personal anchor & rappel extension

  • Friction hitch material (e.g. cordellette loop; HollowBlock) and locking carabiner

  • Locking carabiner for use in personal anchor
